Description
The former stable-block to the northeast of Trevalyn Hospital is a two-storey building constructed of red brick with stone dressings, topped by a pitched slate roof. It features an open courtyard with a walled and later gated entrance on the west side. The south block served as the coach and stable accommodation, characterized by large stone-dressed arched openings with a single keystone on the first storey and alternating small thermal windows with three keystones on the second storey. A wide stone string course separates the storeys.
The central block, located to the east, consists of three bays, with the central bay projecting into the cobbled courtyard and topped by an open triangular pediment. Within the pediment is a circular window that likely once housed a clock, and a later weathervane sits atop the pediment. The north block has no windows on the second floor and at the rear connects to another stable yard and the west wall of the former kitchen garden.
The building remains largely unaltered and still retains the nesting holes from its former dovecote at the rear of the central entrance.
