Description
Rossett Mill is a two-storey building with an H-plan layout, featuring a central section that is timber box-framed and has limited stone dressings on an irregular stone base. The roof is pitched and covered with slate, and there are new skylights. The oldest part of the mill, located to the north and dating from 1588, contains the driving machinery, including the pit wheel, wallower, and large spur wheel. There are newly formed stone steps leading up to the former cart entrance, and large stone quoins are present. The roof braces are exposed at the gable end. The central section, built in 1661, is box-framed on a stone plinth and has a dated dormer above the porch. A quatrefoil timber decoration is located over the main door. The western section of the mill is from the 19th century and is constructed of brick, with a filled-in cart door that has been converted into a window. There is also a single-storey extension to the west cross-wing. An internal inspection was not possible during the re-survey in 1995.
