Description
Meifod is a two-storey cottage built from painted, pebble-dashed brick, featuring a pitched slate roof. It is designed in the Cottage Orne style, which is part of the Picturesque movement. The front elevation is symmetrically composed and topped with a central dentilated broken triangular pediment that encloses a date stone from 1818. Above the facade, a brick dentilated cornice enhances its distinctive undulating shape. The purlins are exposed at the pediment and on the gable ends to the east and west. The ground floor has ogee-arched Gothick windows, although some have been replaced with later uPVC windows. The first floor features similar square-headed windows. On the east and west returns, there are blind circular windows with quatrefoils. A blocked ogee doorway is located on the east side, and there are new chimney stacks along with a rear extension that has a catslide roof, indicating alterations made in the late 19th or early 20th century. An internal inspection was not possible during the 1995 re-survey.
