Description
No. 2 East Street is a building that was originally two cottages, likely dating from the 18th century. It has a pebbledash render that is colourwashed. The eastern half of the roof is covered with double Roman clay tiles, while the western half features clay pantiles, both set between coped gables. The eastern gable has an ornamental finial, and there are no chimney stacks present.
The building is two stories tall and has four bays, with bays three and four forming a lower section. The first bay has a 20th-century part-glazed door, bay two features a three-light casement window with a single horizontal glazing bar, bay three contains a two-light plain casement in a blocked doorway, and bay four has a large picture window or small shop window with a two-light casement above it. The building was vacant and inaccessible as of August 1983, and the interior may contain interesting features. It is included for its group value in a village center that has character and visual interest.
