Description

No. 11 (Rosedell), Nos. 12A and 15, along with their front and wing boundary walls and railings, are a house now divided into three residences. This building dates from the early 19th century, with a late 19th-century extension. It is constructed of Ham stone ashlar and features a Welsh slate roof between coped gables, with end and intermediate chimney stacks made of red brick with yellow banding. The building has an 'L'-shaped plan and is two stories high, with a five-bay facade. Bays 1 to 3 represent No. 11, bays 4 and 5 represent No. 12A, and part of an east return wing is No. 15. The facade includes sash windows with central dividing bars in plain openings. The lower windows in bays 1 and 3 are wider with margins. The entrance to No. 11 is located in bay 2 and features a projecting stone porch supported by Doric columns and pilasters, complete with a full entablature. The entrance to No. 12A is in bay 4 and has a 20th-century lean-to porch. The entrance to No. 15 is on the east side. The interiors have not been seen. The gardens between Nos. 11 and 12A are separated by a random stone wall with flat coping, approximately 1.25 meters high, which connects to the front boundary walls. The boundary wall for No. 11 is between 450mm and 800mm high and includes wrought iron spearhead railings, ornamental gate piers, and cast iron gates. The boundary wall for No. 12A is a low ashlar wall with matching railings and a plain central gate. Both the house and the boundary walls are significant features within a village group that has considerable character.
