Description

The Red House is a detached house dating from the early 19th century, situated on Woolston Road in North Cadbury. Constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, it is designed in a villa style. The roof is hipped, covered with plain clay tiles, featuring a significant eaves overhang and a brick chimney stack at the rear.

The main facade is two storeys and three bays wide. It has sash windows with 12 panes, set in plain surrounds with stone sills and fine-gauged flat arches above. A pair of three-flush-panel doors, with glazed top panels, occupy the lower centre bay, set within a semicircular arch of two orders. The lower order of the arch is rendered and colourwashed, while a false radial-glazed fanlight and fluted side pilasters complete the porch.

A single-bay extension is set back to the north-west corner, built with stretcher bond brickwork and a separate hipped roof. This extension features a part-glazed six-panel door on the ground floor and a nine-pane sash window above. The interior of the house has not been inspected.
