Description
Pilton Stores is an inn that has been converted into a shop and house, dating from the 18th century. The building is constructed of coursed and squared rubble, featuring flush dressed quoins, a cornice band, and a rubble parapet with a plain coping. It has a pent lead-sheeting roof and a virtually symmetrical frontage with three storeys and three bays. The second floor has 12-pane sash windows, while the first floor features a central 18-pane sash window with thick glazing bars, flanked by 16-pane sash windows in a moulded architrave with an emphasised keystone. To the left of the ground floor is a similar window, and to the right is a 20th-century shop front that includes a glazed door. The principal door opening is located in the centre of the ground floor, framed by a stone surround and topped with a half-glazed door and a stone slab hood supported by console brackets. To the left, there is a two-storey, three-bay addition made of coursed and squared rubble with a tile roof and coped verge, featuring a brick stack. This addition has 4-pane sash windows on the first floor, a small casement, and a large plank door on the ground floor.
