Description
No. 16 Fore Street is a mid to late 17th century timber-framed building situated at right angles to the street. It has three storeys and features a gabled front that jetties over the first floor. The roof is covered with old tiles and has bargeboards. The building has small banded quoins and each storey includes an oriel with paired modern sash windows that do not have glazing bars. The ground floor has a 19th-century shop front. This building is part of an important group that includes No. 1A Billet Street, No. 66 The County Hotel, the Brendon Bar, and No. 8 East Street, along with other listed buildings in Cheapside, Fore Street, and the Parade.
