Description
Nos 13 and 14 on Fore Street are likely from the late 16th century. This two-storey house features a plastered timber frame, two roof gables, and three gabled oriels. The roof has tiles, cresting, and ornamental bargeboards that were added in the 19th century. The gabled oriels include ornamental bargeboards and windows with mullions and transoms that are similar to those found at No 15. There is an ancient stone chimney next to No 12. A moulded cornice runs above the ground floor, while modern shop fronts have been installed. These buildings, along with No 1A Billet Street, No 66 The County Hotel, the Brendon Bar, and No 8 East Street, form an important group with other listed buildings in Cheapside, Fore Street, and the Parade.
