Description

No 8 East Street is a three-storey building with a two-window painted brick front, likely dating from the 18th century. It features a hipped old tile roof and sash windows set in painted reveals with glazing bars. The ground floor includes a distinctive bow window and a large round-headed archway to the left. The central doorway is framed by an architrave surround and leads up five steps to a six-panel door. This building was previously known as No 40, but the number 8 is displayed over the entrance. It is located in the alley behind Cheapside, next to the Brendon Bar. No 8 East Street, along with No 1A Billet Street, No 66 The County Hotel, and the Brendon Bar, forms an important group with other listed buildings in Cheapside, Fore Street, and the Parade.
