Description
No 1A Billet Street is a large building from the mid to late 19th century, situated on a corner site with East Street. It has three storeys and is constructed of white brick, featuring a dentil cornice and a parapet. The building has plain pilasters and moulded strings that separate the storeys. It has a curved corner with one window facing East Street and three windows on Billet Street. The second floor includes a three-light window, while the first floor has a canted bay window on East Street. The windows are surrounded by architraves and are sash windows without glazing bars. There are contemporary shop fronts that wrap around the corner, featuring a large entrance on Billet Street with rusticated pilasters, large volutes, and double four-panel doors. To the left, there is a lower two-storey extension. This building is included for its group value with No 66 the County Hotel, the Brendon Bar, and No 8 East Street, which together form an important group with other listed buildings in Cheapside, Fore Street, and the Parade.
