Milestone. C18. Doulting stone. Pillar about 350 mm wide by 200 mm thick; now leaning at about 45 degrees and part buried.
Inscribed: "II MILE From" (Redlynch House; according to one mile stone at Redlynch, Bruton CP qv).
On a private coach road between Redlynch House (qv) belonging to Lord Ilchester in C18, and Stourhead, Wiltshire, belonging to the Hoares: the road was used by George III when he often stayed at Redlynch on his way to Weymouth, (Couzens, P, Bruton in Selwuod, Abbey Press, Sherbourne, 1972).
