Description
West Lodge is a building dating from 1778 to 1780, originally leased to Roger West Brown. It is constructed of coursed rubble with free-stone window dressings, chamfered quoins, a moulded cornice, and an ashlar parapet with coping. The roof is covered with plain tiles and features two dormers. The building has two storeys and three windows, which have raised and beaded surrounds. The outer windows are Venetian with keyed round-headed centre lights, and the sashes include glazing bars. The central door opening has an architrave with a serpentine pediment supported by brackets, which encloses a panelled door. The front of the building is well-proportioned and symmetrical. Inside, there is an original staircase with turned balusters and a bracketed string, with the last step featuring a curved rail.
