Description

No. 1 Castle Street is a late 17th century building that was refronted in the 18th century, with a second floor added in the mid-19th century. The structure has two bays and features cross-glazed sash windows, which are a result of mid-19th century remodelling, with paired windows on the ground floor. The central doorpiece has an edge roll and cut brackets supporting a moulded flat hood. The roof is made of pantiles and has chimneys at both ends. At the rear, there is a stair turret on the right side, which includes a small oak-framed light above the first floor level. Inside, there is a winder staircase.
