Description

No. 39 Vallis Way, dating from the 1680s, was originally the Angel and Crown Inn and was remodelled in the mid-19th century. The building is rendered to resemble ashlar and has a pantile roof with one gabled dormer. It features two cross-glazed sash windows and a central four-panel door with cut brackets supporting a moulded flat hood. A two-storey gabled extension exists at the rear, along with former courtyard buildings associated with the public house. There are traces of a half-storey cottage on the left-hand return.

Inside, an inglenook fireplace remains, formerly featuring a herringbone-patterned fireback with a date. A winder stair is located to the right, notable for its moulded risers and a blocked stairlight containing fragments of old glazing. An axial ceiling beam is present, displaying ogee stops to its chamfer.
