Description
Mill, millhouse, and waterwheel, probably from the early 18th century, situated on a medieval site with later alterations. At the time of the survey in September 1983, the building was undergoing restoration. The structure features roughcast over random rubble, a pantiled roof, and brick stacks located on the left gable end of the mill, at the center right of the millhouse, and rising from the eaves of a hipped southern addition to the millhouse. The layout is "L"-shaped, with the millhouse oriented east-west, a southern addition, and an outshot at the rear, while the mill is positioned at a right angle with the mill wheel at the northern end. The building is two storeys high, with the millhouse having two 20th-century three-light metal casements on the first floor to the left and the same on the ground floor, along with an entrance to the right featuring a 20th-century door. The mill has 19th-century two-light casements on both the first and ground floors to the left, and a single-storey addition with a three-light casement on the right, with a plank door to the left. The remains of an iron-bound overshot waterwheel are located to the right, all undergoing restoration at the time of the survey. The interior was not viewed but is said to contain much of the mill machinery.
