Description
No. 48 High Street is a shop built in the mid-19th century, constructed from Bath stone ashlar with a roof that is hidden behind a parapet. It is designed in a Neo-Georgian style. The building has three storeys and four bays. The ground floor features a late 20th-century shop front that spans the entire width, with a central recessed doorway and an additional doorway to the upper floors located in a recess to the right, all beneath a fairly deep fascia. The upper floors contain 12-pane sash windows set within moulded architraves, with the first-floor windows also featuring flat hoods. The rear elevation includes steel casements and a flat-roofed rear extension. The entire interior has been rebuilt in the mid-20th century. This building is included for its facade, which contributes to a significant group of listed buildings on High Street.
