Description

The building is a roadside cross with a railed enclosure, likely dating from the 14th century. It consists of a plain, square socket which tapers to an octagonal shaft. The original tabernacle head has decayed, although a finial remains. The cross is surrounded by a wrought iron railed enclosure, featuring spear-headed railings set upon a rubble plinth. Tall rubble piers mark each corner of the enclosure. The cross was documented by Pooley in 'Old Crosses of Somerset' in 1877.
