Description
Allington House is an early 19th-century house with a forecourt wall and railings. The house is built with painted rubble and has a pantile roof with coped verges, and brick stacks at each end. It has a symmetrical facade with two storeys and three bays. The first floor has nine-pane sash windows in painted brick surrounds, while the ground floor has twelve-pane sash windows in similar surrounds. The central door opening has a two-panelled door, with each panel glazed, and a 20th-century wooden pediment supported by brackets. A late 19th-century brick wall runs along the forecourt, featuring cast iron railings with a vine design, central brick gate piers, and a railed gate. A two-bay addition to the right, with a front-facing gable and a shop front on the ground floor, is not included in the listing. The building possesses group value from its contribution to the streetscape.
