Description

Crow Lane Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse that was significantly altered in the 19th century and extended. It is constructed of colourwashed rubble with a double Roman tile roof, and features a large external gable rubble stack to the left, along with two further ridge stacks, one of which is backing onto a cross passage. The house originally had a three-room, cross-passage plan, with a further bay added as a byre to the right, and a room above. The front has two storeys and three widely spaced windows, which are mostly 2-light 19th-century casements. However, 3-light casements flank a 6-panel door, with the top two panels glazed and situated between the second and third bays. A 20th-century steel casement is located in the centre of the first floor. An additional bay has been added to the right, containing a loading door above a small square light on the ground floor. The right gable has a central door opening leading to the byre. The rear of the property includes a 20th-century extension at the byre end, with a plank door opposite the main entrance and a small 2-light 19th-century casement above. Inside, features include a smoking chamber, a bread oven, and a fireplace with a large wooden bressumer.
