Description

The front boundary wall and entrance gateway to High Barn date from the early 19th century. The wall is constructed of local stone that is cut and squared, standing 2.2 metres high and tapering down to 1.5 metres on either side of the gateway. The gateway is primarily made of Ham stone, also 2.2 metres high, featuring rectangular piers on either side of a pointed archway. This archway is topped with coping, a miniature pediment, and a fleur-de-lys finial. The entrance includes a boarded wooden gate. This structure is visually significant both to the house and to the corner of the village where it is located.
