Description

The Chantry is an early 19th-century cottage located on Movey Lane in Limington. It is constructed of local stone with squared details and Ham stone dressings, featuring a plain clay tile roof over a stone base course, coped gables, and a hip ridge to accommodate the roof behind. Brick chimney stacks are also present.

The cottage has two storeys and three bays. A central six-fielded panel door is protected by a simple wrought iron porch with a sheet metal roof and is topped by a half-oval arch with a fanlight. The windows are 16-pane sashes set within plain raised surrounds.

Running one metre from the house is a cast iron railing of the early 19th century, set on a stone base with simple balusters topped by cast acanthus caps; some balusters are missing. The front boundary is marked by floriated and raised gate posts with ornamental spear tops, and matching gates.
