Description

Holywell Cottage is an early 18th-century cottage located in East Coker. It is constructed of local stone rubble with ashlar dressings, and has a thatched roof with coped gables and brick end chimney stacks. The south facade features two bays. It has hollow-chamfered mullioned windows without labels; a two-light window is present in the lower bay, and a three-light window in the lower bay. Above are two-light timber casement windows. A central part-glazed door is protected by a moulded stone hood carrier supported on simple corbel brackets. Extensions have been added to the east side and rear, with flat roofs. Two small stair lights are visible in the east gable, one at the low level and one in the attic. The interior has not been inspected.
