Description

The Churchyard Cross, located at the Church of St. Michael, is a memorial dedicated to the Coles family of Shepton Beauchamp House and dates from 1872. It is made of dressed stone and features a base of four chamfered octagonal steps. Above the steps is an octagonal socket with foiled niches, leading to a tapering shaft adorned with fleurons and a cruciform finial. On the west face of the shaft, there is a carved figure of Christ set within a niche. The steps also bear five leaded inscriptions honoring the Coles family.
