Description

This is a range of farm outbuildings dating from the 17th to 18th century, located about 10 metres west of Atherstone Farmhouse in Whitelackington. The buildings are constructed from coursed ham stone rubble. The south and part of the west range have thatched roofs, while the remainder is covered with Welsh slates, which are partly hipped but feature a coped gable where the thatch meets the slate. The layout is in a 'U' shape and is mostly two-storey.

The south range includes two possibly 17th-century timber windows in the south wall at a high level, although the other openings have been blocked. The west range features mostly 19th-century openings with brick jambs on both levels. The north range has three two-light ovolo-moulded mullioned windows with labels, along with two segmented-arched doorways and other plain doorways, plus a throughway towards the east end. The roof frame of the south wing consists of collar trusses, which appear to be from the 18th century. The interiors of the remaining buildings have not been seen. This range of outbuildings is an important complement to Atherstone Farmhouse.
