Description

3/119 Range of outbuildings about 10 metres west of Atherstone Farmhouse 4.2.58 GV II

Farm buildings. C17/C18. Ham stone coursed rubble; south and part of west range thatched; remainder Welsh slates, partly hipped, but with coped gable at junction with thatch. 'U'-plan. Mostly 2-storey. South range has two possibly C17 timber windows in south wall at high level, the other openings now blocked: west range has mostly C19 openings with brick jambs both levels; north range has three 2-light ovolo-mould mullioned windows with labels, with 2 segmented-arched doorways and other plain doorways, and a throughway towards east end. Roof frame of collar trusses to south wing, at least; these apparently C18: interiors of remaining buildings not seen. The whole range is an important complement to Atherstone Farmhouse (q.v.).
