Description
This description is for a pair of monuments located in the churchyard about 11 meters west of the Church of St. Michael in Shepton Beauchamp. The two chest tombs are both likely from the 17th century. One tomb has a decayed inscription, while the other features a later inscription dedicated to Thomas Clarke from 1834. Both monuments are made of dressed stone. The tomb for Thomas Clarke has a sunken plinth and a plain oblong chest topped with a chamfered slab. The other tomb also has a sunken plinth and an oblong chest, which includes dentil niches for former inscriptions on each face, topped with a hipped slab that has a moulded lower edge.
