Entrance Gateway. C18, relocated in C19. Ham stone ashlar. Gate piers about 600mm square, moulded plinth, rusticated shaft, cornice cap and simple crown finials; good wrot iron gates with swept curved top rail: on either side of gateway 3 bays of balustrading about 900 mm high, terminating in cut and squared stone sweeps. The old road, originally some 400 metres to North linking East Street and The Old Road (Dorset), was superseded in C19 by London Road, and the gates were relocated. Part of the setting to an important Country House.
