Description

Portland House is an early 19th-century house with alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed with a rendered exterior that resembles ashlar, and has a low-pitched slate roof with wide eaves and two brick stacks. The building is symmetrical in design, with a 1:1:1 bay arrangement, and the central section projects slightly. The windows are mostly 16-pane sash windows, with a 12-pane sash window located centrally on the first floor, each with stepped voussoirs.

The ground floor features a broad, semi-circular headed opening that forms a porch, accentuated by a prominent keystone. This opening has a 20th-century glazed infill and a half-glazed inner door, which leads to a coved plaster ceiling inside.

The forecourt is enclosed by cast and wrought iron railings, with a central gate that matches the style of the railings.
