Description

The archway forming the north side of a bridge over the Pillrow Wall Rhyne is dated 1824. It features a low cast iron segmental archway supported by rubble abutments, with emphasized spandrels. Above the archway, there is raised lettering that reads "R DOWN 1824 B. WATER." Substantial cast iron railings are set above the arch on three projecting scrolled brackets, with a short section of rubble wall on each side. The southern part of the bridge has been significantly altered and is not included in this listing. The northern side of the bridge remains largely intact and is an attractive feature.
