Description
The east and south boundary walls to The Manor House, along with a gateway, are likely from the 18th century. They are constructed from local lias stone that is roughly cut and squared, with dressings made of Doulting stone. The walls are built in random rubble and have a plain thin coping, standing approximately 2.5 meters high. The south wall features an upsweep and a ball finial at its west end. For about 10 meters along the east wall, the stone is larger and better worked, with rubble square end piers and central gate piers made of panelled ashlar, all capped with a cornice pattern. There are six stone steps leading up to the gateway, which has 20th-century timber gates. These walls enhance the setting of the house and occupy an important corner site in the village.
