Description

Old Hunt Farmhouse is an 18th-century semi-detached house located in North Cadbury. The house is constructed of Cary stone, with squared stone facing, ashlar dressings, and a Welsh slate roof punctuated by stepped and coped gables. Brick chimney stacks are at each end. The house has two storeys and an attic, originally with three bays. It features mullioned windows with beaded surrounds and architraves, each with two lights and steel casements. The central doorway has an architrave and an open pediment stone hood supported by console brackets, now containing a 20th-century door. A lean-to extension projects from the rear, and a small three-light casement window is set into the south gable at attic level. The interior remains unseen. The house has group value, particularly with Foxcombe Farmhouse in Castle Cary, with which it may be historically connected.
