Description
Agecroft is a detached cottage dating from the 17th century, with some earlier fragments. It is constructed from Cary stone rubble and features a thatched roof with plain gables and a brick chimney stack. The building has two storeys and five bays with irregular fenestration. The windows are leaded casements, mostly with three lights and rectangular panes. However, the upper window in bay two has an early pattern diamond leaded window, and the lower window in bay three is a 30-pane bow window.
There is a late 20th-century single-storey, two-bay extension extending from bay five that matches the original structure. On the south gable, there is another single-storey extension with a half-hipped thatched roof of uncertain date, which incorporates an early smoke-blackened roof truss with wattle and daub infill that may date back to the early 16th century. Additionally, there is a small three-light casement window at attic level in the south gable. The entrance to the cottage is now located at the rear. The interior has not been seen.
