Description

Stone House is a farmhouse, now a dwelling, with an adjoining farmbuilding to the west and walls that enclose the garden on the south front. It dates from the early 19th century. The house features roughcast over rubble, a slate roof, and brick stacks at the gable ends. It is a double pile structure with two storeys and three bays, including 12-pane sash windows and a central entrance with a diagonally boarded door, a leaded fanlight, and a 20th-century half-glazed porch.

To the west, there is a long range of farmbuilding made of red sandstone random rubble and a slate roof. This includes two two-storey blocks with an entrance to the foldyard between them, all under one roof. The left block is a barn, while the right has three bays that may serve as a granary over a stable, overlooking the garden and linked to the house by a wall that returns around the forecourt on the south side, featuring unglazed openings.

The enclosing wall is mainly constructed of pink brick, with some random rubble, standing about 1.5 metres high. It has brick set on end for a crenellated coping and curves, sweeping up on the returns to approximately 2.5 metres on the east side and 3.5 metres on the west side, returning to the house and farmbuilding respectively. The entrance to the farm is located at the north-west corner, featuring a two-centred arch doorway with double doors. The interior has not been seen. This property forms a good group with its surroundings.
