Description
Deacons is a farmhouse that dates back to the 18th century, with possible earlier origins. It underwent alterations in the mid-19th century and late 20th century. The building is roughcast over rubble and features a slate roof with overhanging eaves, a painted wooden soffit board, and closely spaced shaped brackets. There are brick stacks located at the left gable end and between the first and second bays on the right and centre left. The plan of the building is not clear without an internal inspection, but it has a very long frontage and may have originally been built as a row of cottages or as a farmhouse that was later enlarged to form multiple dwellings, before being converted back into a single residence. The structure is two storeys high with five bays. The windows are 20th-century wooden casements, and the ground floor of the second bay on the left features 20th-century French windows. There is a flat-roofed wrought iron trellis-work porch with wooden shaped brackets located in the central bay and between the first and second bays on the right, along with 20th-century doors. The interior has not been seen.
