Description
Grove Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates back to the 16th century and was enlarged in the early 19th century, with restoration occurring in the late 20th century. The exterior is roughcast over rubble, featuring a plinth on the facade. It has a double span roof covered in asbestos slate, with stone cladding on the chimney, which has large external stacks rising from the right gable end of the rear span. The building is thought to have an L-shaped plan, which has been partly demolished and enlarged to create a parallel range in the 19th century. It stands two storeys high and has three bays, with 12-pane sash windows and a central 20th-century door. Although the interior has not been sighted, it is noted that the rear range is said to contain a 9-panel moulded compartment ceiling with wattle and daub partitions. There are two depressed four-centred arch doorways on the first floor, remnants of the original roof, and an elaborately moulded three-light window with ferraments on the rear elevation.
