Description
This building, originally a house and now part of the offices for a tannery, dates back to around 1700. It is constructed from local stone coursed rubble with ashlar dressings and features Bridgwater patent triple angle clay roof tiles between coped gables, along with brick end and intermediate chimney stacks. The building has two storeys with an attic and consists of four bays.
The entrance elevation facing north has been significantly altered, but one plain chamfered mullioned window without a label remains in the lower part of bay three. The south elevation features horizontal bar casement windows, with three lights above under timber lintels and two lights below under labels, arranged in common lintol bays one and two. Between bays two and three, there is a moulded cambered arched doorway. Bay four includes a return wing from the 20th century, which is of little interest.
On the west gable, there are plain chamfered mullioned windows, one at each level: three lights on the main floors, with the upper window featuring leaded lights, and a two-light window in the attic. Set into the gable is a rectangular panelled stone, possibly a datestone, although the inscription is now lost, and it is positioned under a hood mould. The interior has not been seen.
