Description

This is an 18th-century house, potentially built on an earlier foundation, located in Turleigh. It’s constructed of rubble stone with a Bridgwater tile roof and a central ridge stack. The house has a basement, two storeys, and an attic, arranged in an L-shape.

The front range has a two-window facade with sash windows. The centre doorway has been blocked. A basement window is present at the south end. The north gable, facing the street, features a 16-pane attic window, a 4-pane first-floor sash window, and a bowed ground-floor shop window with 24 panes. The rear wing, thought to have once been a drying shed, has piers built into the upper wall. A large central C20 door and a window, both under a timber lintel, are on the right side. The south gable of the front range has a 2-light flush mullion window on each floor.

Historically, the building served as a bakery and was previously part of a complex of buildings associated with the tannery at Turleigh.
