Description
The wall along the south side of the Vicarage garden is a Grade II listed structure, likely built in the 19th century. It is constructed of brick and rubble and runs west along the north side of the churchyard, attached to the Cottage at the Vicarage. At the eastern end, there is a wooden door featuring gothic panelling. The western end of the wall, where it meets Whirligig Lane, includes an entrance to the vicarage garden, characterized by a four-centred arch with a drip moulding, flanked by pilaster buttresses. Above the arch is a gablet that contains a diamond panel and a carved heraldic device, with another wooden door. Originally, the wall extended north into Whirligig Lane, but that section has been completely rebuilt and is not listed. This wall, along with the other listed buildings in Church Square and the Church of St Mary Magdalene, contributes to an important group of historic structures.
