GV II

House, set-back and raised above the road. Early C19. MATERIALS: coursed and squared limestone with Ham Hill stone rusticated quoins, moulded cornice and basement; slate roof. PLAN: double-depth plan. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys; symmetrical 3-window range. Gauged flat stone arches to windows of diminishing heights: tripartite sashes to the centre, with 6/6 panes to ground and first-floor, 3/6 to the second-floor. To each side are 6/6-pane sashes to the ground floor, 8/8-panes to the first floor, and 3/6 to the second floor. The basement windows have segmental arches. The entrance is to the right (east). INTERIOR not inspected but noted as having an elliptical top-lighted stairwell. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: A rough Ham Hill stone ashlar revetment wall to the front, with coping, is attached to the south-east corner of No.13 (qv), to the left; it supports spearhead railings with urn finials. There are similar wrought-iron gates to the right, with a slightly dipped top rail, adjoining Merefield House (qv). A round arch with a keystone and cornice is attached to the south-east corner of the house.
