Description
Winyards View is a former single house from the 18th century, located at the end of a row in Merriott. The building is constructed of Ham stone ashlar and features a thatched roof with a coped gable on the south side, continuing to the north. It has brick chimney stacks at both ends and in the middle. The house is two storeys high and consists of four bays.
The windows are plain beaded mullioned types, with unworked top mitres and shallow architraves. The three bays of No 16 have two-light windows, while Winyards View has a three-light window. The ground floor bay 1 has been altered with a deeper 20th-century window featuring a reconstructed stone surround. Between bays 1 and 2, there is a later 19th-century door set in a timber and thatched open porch. The south gable has been modified with a 20th-century glazed door and a timber hood, along with a nearby single-light steel casement. At the rear, there is a tall transomed two-light beaded mullioned window at mezzanine level in a shallow architrave. A 20th-century extension has been added to the rear. The interior has not been seen.
