Description
No 9 High Street is a shop and house dating from the 15th or 16th century, with late 18th century window features. The building is rendered with a timber frame and has some 19th century glazed tiles on the ground floor, topped by a double Roman tile roof. It stands three storeys high and features overhangs on both the first and second floors. The first floor has two bays with flush mounted 16-pane sash windows, while the second floor has flush mounted 12-pane sash windows. There is an opening for a former sash window on the left side of the ground floor, which has been replaced by a single pane of glass. To the right of the ground floor is a 19th century 6-light shop front. Adjacent to this is a 16th or 17th century ribbed and studded door with eight panels, featuring a 4-centred arch head and a moulded and stopped wooden surround, adorned with two elaborately carved winged dragons in relief at the head.
