Description

This building on High Street in Axbridge is a shop and house, likely dating back to the 16th or 17th century, although it was significantly altered in the early 19th century. It has a pantile roof and rendered exterior. The upper floor has 12-pane sash windows added in the 20th century. The ground floor features a shop front dating to the late 19th century, with a central half-glazed door and a three-light bowed window on each side, all topped by a facioard. Inside, there are exposed ceiling beams, although many of these have been renewed. This building holds group value as a well-preserved example of a historic commercial property within the town centre.
