Description

This sundial, located 20 metres west of Middle Halsway Farmhouse, dates from 1720 but likely incorporates elements from the medieval period, the 16th century, and the 19th century. It is made of limestone ashlar and stands about 1.25 metres high. The sundial features well-crafted lettering on its copper face, which rests on a medieval leaf capital. The shaft is a twisted baluster from the 17th century, and the base consists of two mill stones. Overall, it is a successful composition.
