Description

The Cox Chest Tomb, located 3 meters south of the chancel at the Church of Saint Mary, is a chest tomb dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed from Ham stone and features a rectangular plan with a moulded base. Each end has a fielded panel, and there is a single fielded panel on each side, flanked by triple panelled pilasters. The tomb has a moderately sized hipped top and commemorates George Cox and his wife, who both died in 1769.
