Description
Whatley Coombe House is a country house dated 1815. It is constructed of Bath stone ashlar with rusticated quoins, a moulded cornice with a parapet, and a slate roof featuring two box dormers with coped verges and ashlar end stacks. The symmetrical facade is in a Classical style, with two storeys and three bays. It has 16-pane sash windows in reveals. The central door opening has a semi-circular head flanked by pilasters supporting an open pediment on brackets, above a six-panelled door with a radiating fanlight. A rainwater head features the inscription 'I.S. 1815'. A single-storey, two-bay wing adjoins the main house to the right. An outshut extends to the rear, with a catslide roof. The interior retains fireplaces, wood and plasterwork, and a well staircase.
