Description

This is an unidentified chest tomb located in the churchyard, 10 metres north of the north aisle of the Church of St John the Baptist. It dates from the 17th century and is made of dressed stone. The tomb is oblong in shape, with its plinth buried. It features end pilasters on the north and south sides adorned with strapwork, while the east and west ends also display additional strapwork. The inscriptions on the north and south sides are much decayed and are set within semi-circular headed niches. The top of the tomb is a massive slab that is elaborately moulded around its lower edge, with three gabled oblong projections on its surface.
