Description

This is a mid-19th century stable block, likely part of the original estate associated with numbers 36 to 90 (even) Staplegrove Road. The building stands at a right angle to the street. It is constructed of whitewashed rubble walls and features a triangular pediment rising into a pantile roof, with projecting eaves supported by curved brackets. There are three windows, all sashes with glazing bars. A canted bay window is located centrally on the ground floor, and small lean-to extensions are present on both the left and right sides. Swiss Cottage forms part of a group of buildings along Staplegrove Road, including numbers 86 to 90 (even), a summerhouse at the Language Centre, a cottage, Weir House, Weir Lodge, and a pair of gate piers.
