Description

These are two painted stone gatepiers, likely dating from the early 19th century, situated on Staplegrove Road, flanking the path leading to Weir Lodge. They are characterised by banded rustication. The gatepiers are topped with entablatures supporting eagles whose heads are turned inwards. A wrought-iron gate is present, featuring curved crossbars and spear uprights. The gatepiers, along with Weir House, Weir Lodge, numbers 86 to 90 (even) Staplegrove Road, the Summerhouse at Language Centre, The Cottage, and Swiss Cottage in Linden Grove, form a group of buildings of group value.
