Description

Weir Lodge is a substantial, probably mid-19th century, house situated within its own grounds. It now serves as the Somerset Education Museum. The two-storey front façade faces south and is whitewashed. The roof is slate, with decorative eaves and bargeboards incorporating brackets. A thick horizontal band runs above the ground floor. There are five windows, fitted with modern frames, and paired French windows at ground floor level. A lower whitewashed brick range is located at the rear on the right-hand side. Weir Lodge forms part of a group of buildings alongside Weir House, numbers 86 to 90 (even) Staplegrove Road, the Summerhouse at the Language Centre, The Cottage, and Swiss Cottage in Linden Grove.
