Description
44 The Butts is a building dated 1700 that has been altered. It stands 2½ storeys high and is constructed of rubble on a solid rock foundation, topped with a pantile roof. The ground floor features one window with mid-19th century block dressings and a sash. On the first floor, there are two two-light casement windows with stone mullions that have set back ovolo mouldings and a common drip-mould. A similar window is located in the attic gable, although the pitch of the gable has been altered. There is a door on the side of the building. Below the attic window, a stone reads "B W.M 1700 Time Tryeth All Things." The house is part of a range of mid-19th century cottages and converted workshops.
